Adjunct Faculty, Literature and Drama
Dr. Deryl Davis (drama and literature) is an actor, director, educator, and documentary film producer. He trained in drama with Massachusetts-based Shakespeare & Company and Washington, D.C.’s Shakespeare Theater Company and The Studio Theatre. Deryl has acted and/or directed with the Capital Fringe Festival, Source Theatre Festival, Annapolis Shakespeare Company, Journeyman Theatre Ensemble, Silver Spring Stage, The Rude Mechanicals, Elden Street Players, and Playhouse on the Square (Memphis, TN), among others. Deryl holds a PhD in Theology and Culture from the University of Glasgow, Scotland and master’s degrees in theology and comparative literature from the University of Edinburgh. He has led Bibliodrama and liturgical drama workshops and spiritual formation classes in the DC metro area, in Britain, and with the Iona Community on the island of Iona in Scotland.
Currently, he is producer on a new film for PBS on the life and legacy of African-American theologian and Civil Rights pioneer Howard Thurman.
